Currently the City of Sulphur is not allowing volunteers or the general public into the "shelter". We are no longer allowed to photograph and post the animals there needing homes, rescue or perhaps just their concerned owners. Please check back often for updates as we are hopeful that the City of Sulphur will extend their hand to ours and once again allow us to help these animals who otherwise will go unseen.
For now, I have chosen to keep the photos of our last group of animals we were able to help posted here.... they mean so much to us I don't want to take them down just for sake of empty space.....

BEAR - Male Chow
Bear is 12 years old and was surrendered to the pound due to biting his owner.... it was later learned that his owners had been hitting him over the head and back repeatedly with a shovel.... he came into the shelter carrying his head low and was very untrusting but not at all vicious. At the vet clinic he was called a sweetheart (until meds had to be given- he did not like his face messed with- he did bite) Bear is an absolute sweetheart with many years left- he needs a home he can live out those years in comfort and with tender loving care. He needs to be in a home without children obviously. He is currently in a foster home but she is quite full .... so he sooner he can be adopted into a permanent home, the better- for him and others like him. He is a very special boy- he needs a very special human....
UPDATE: Bear found his special human, he made an incredible bond and connection with his foster mom and with her he stayed until the end. His health gradually declined and when it was time to cross over Rainbow Bridge he did so in her loving arms.... Rest In Peace Bear Bear. |  |

 CHELSEA - Female Surrender almost 2 years old- a wonderful girl! She has some food aggression but otherwise gets along with everyone :) Her best bud is Cherry Star who she will share a bowl of food with now..... SO proud of her. She is also vey clean and is likely house trained.

 GYPSY - Female She is around one year old, was surrendered due to digging out per owner. She is a very sweet girl- would be excellent with children and loves car rides. She is house trained also ! LOKI is our pal of the week- he's a special boy who needs a special home- ABSOLUTELY sweet as can be, great with cats and people- he's a little trixter though- hence his name given y his foster momma :) He's a hoot :) See his shelter photos near the end of this page... he was our Mr. T back then :)

Loki's 5th Day with Us
Just a photo to show you how far he has come........
Loki had been roaming around Sulphur quite some time (months) before brought in by the ANimal Control Officer. On intake he was skin and bones and very apprehensive. He is filling out now and loves belly rubs and kisses are always given when you pass his cage.

Loki is curently in a foster home but still needs to find his forever home- Please call 817-266-1901 for information on adopting him. He does just fine with his foster momma's birds and cats- acts as though they aren't even there. He can be pretty hyper and playful at times but if you're on the floor with him his head goes straight in your lap and that's where he stays. He LOVES his belly rubbed and is not agressive with any of the animals in foster. He is an escape artist though- the BEST! He is a street smart boy and can scale a chain fence in nothing flat. BEVO is as sweet as they come. His neck lacerations are completely healed and he is doing well. He just wants attention and LOVES to go out on the leash.

He would be a wonderful addition to any home. This boy was saved from euthanasia by a wonderful foster angel.
He will do best in an active home - hiking, park outings and lots of fetch (this boy LOVES fetch!) He is not the type of dog to share a home with another large male dog.... but does fine with females and smaller males. He loves hugs :)

Bevo is an absolute sweet heart... he does have a lot of energy but no more than most of the dogs in our care. He needs a home where he has a yard to run in and a buddy to play with and a nice cozy bed to rest his head at night. Bevo was surrendered by his previous owners as "being too much to handle" and they were "unable to keep him on his chain" .... Bevo arrived at the shelter with half inch deep lacerations ALL the way AROUND his neck.  |
